(UNDATED) - U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement says 1.18 million foreign students are enrolled at 8,774 schools in the U.S., and that 77 percent of the students come from Asia.
Talk Media News reports, China and India remain the largest countries of origin for foreign students on U.S. campuses: 362,368 Chinese and 206,698 Indian students.
Nearly 514,000 foreign students are pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM).
Schools attracting the largest numbers of foreign students are New York University (15,386), University of Southern California (13,365) and Northeastern University (12,372).
