(JEFFERSONVILLE) - A judge has sentenced a southern Indiana woman to 32 years in prison after she plead guilty in her 3-year-old daughter’s abuse death and to neglect for injuries suffered by the girl’s older sister.
25-year-old Cynthia Weigleb of Clarksville was sentenced Monday to 37 years for neglect resulting and death and nine years for neglect resulting in serious injury. A plea agreement calls for her to serve both sentences at the same time and five years spent on supervised probation.
Coroners found Alexis Arensman died from battered child syndrome in 2015.
The surviving child was 4 when she suffered her injuries. She's now living with foster parents, and Clark County Prosecutor Jeremy Mull says she's recovering, but remains "very much traumatized by what happened."
