(WEST LAFAYETTE, IN) - You’ll have more opportunities to buy alcohol at Purdue football and basketball games, starting this fall.
The university says beer, wine and liquor will be sold throughout both Mackey Arena and Ross-Ade Stadium. The only place you won't be able to purchase booze is in the concourse next to the student sections.
Alcohol has been available in premium seating sections and suites at Ross-Ade Stadium since 2003 and at the South End Zone Patio since 2015. Beer, wine and liquor have been available in club areas at Mackey Arena since 2011.
Purdue vice president and athletics director Mike Bobinski said in a press release that the decision to expand was based on positive feedback from fans.
"Our fans have responded very favorably to being able to purchase beer and wine on the South End Zone Patio," Bobinski said. "As a result...we believe the time is right to offer this expanded opportunity."
Bobinski said the athletics department was given authorization for expanded alcohol sales by the Purdue Board of Trustees and president Mitch Daniels after "extensive discussions" with campus police.
Alcohol sales will end at the end of the third quarter at football games, at the second half under-12 media timeout at men's basketball games, and at the end of the third quarter at women's basketball games.
