(UNDATED) - The U.S. 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals became the sixth appellate court to uphold the right of citizens to videotape the conduct of police officers in public places.
Talk Media News reports, the case at the Philadelphia court consolidated two similar lawsuits, one involving police interference with an observer who videotaped the arrest of a protester at a rally, and the other of a university student who was ticketed for recording the break-up of a house party.
"The fundamental right to document police activity is crucial to deter misconduct," said Molly Tack-Hooper, who argued the case for the American Civil Liberties Union.
