(UNDATED) - An Opinion Research Corp. survey of 1,000 adult Americans found that 89% of the respondents favored country-of-origin-labeling (COOL) for fresh meat; and, that labels should inform where meat animals were born, raised and processed, the Consumer Federation of America said.
Talk Media News reports, Congress approved COOL legislation in 2002. But the law and USDA's implementing regulations were repealed by a 2015 law that was signed by President Obama to comply with a World Trade Organization resolution of a dispute brought by North American Free Trade Agreement partners Mexico and Canada.
