(UNDATED) - A report from the Crime Prevention Research Center estimates there are 16.3 million Americans who are carrying concealed weapons, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said.
In 11 states, 10 percent of the adult population is licensed to carry firearms and, in several of those states, the number of women who are getting gun permits is far outnumbering the number of men.
CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb noted that a 256 percent increase in carry permits between 2007 and 2015 - the years of the Obama presidency - coincided with a decline in the national murder rate from 5.6 to 4.9 per 100,000 population.
