(EVANSVILLE) - An Evansville man is accused of killing his wife, then telling his neighbors that he did it.
According to the Evansville Courier & Press, 33-year-old Amber Herron was found dead Tuesday night in a car outside of her home in the 1200 block of East Oregon Street.
Police say they received a call from a neighbor saying that Charles Herron, 37, approached them and said he had murdered his wife.
When officers arrived, they say Herron would not come out of his home. After obtaining a search warrant and throwing tear gas inside the home, Herron came out and was placed into custody around 6 a.m. Wednesday.
Investigators believe Charles Herron killed his wife during a domestic dispute.
He's in the Vanderburgh County Jail facing a preliminary charge of murder.
