(INDIANAPOLIS) - The Indiana Arts Commission (IAC) announced today that registration is open for its inaugural convening, Indiana Arts Homecoming, October 4 - 6, 2017 at the Indiana State Museum in downtown Indianapolis, Indiana.
This new event will bring together artists, arts organizations, arts educators, arts supporters and advocates to grow Indiana's arts scene. The theme of the convening, "Community Engagement: Ideas, Stories and Change that Matters," will provide opportunities to highlight, recognize, and share great community engagement work happening throughout the state; to connect with peers; to gain new skills for engaging at the local community level; to expand networks; and to celebrate arts innovation and impact in Indiana.
"This statewide convening is open to anyone in the Indiana arts community, and will provide unique opportunities to learn how the arts are helping advance quality of life, community development, education, tourism, and much more," said Lewis C. Ricci, IAC Executive Director. "Our intention is to make this an annual event, hosted in communities across Indiana, and featuring local, state, and national experts on a variety of topics critical to advancing the arts in all aspects of life."
The Indiana Arts Homecoming will also include an opportunity for participants to review presentations on arts-centric projects from communities in all regions of the state, and vote for the projects they think most deserving of an "InstaGrant" to help further the success of that project.
Convening session schedules and session leaders are being updates on a regular basis. Check the IAC website for session schedule details.
Registration is $75 per person, and space is limited. To reserve your place, click here. Event parking is included with registration. Lodging is available near the convening site. Participants needing to be invoiced should contact Miah Michaelsen at mmichaelsen@iac.in.gov.
Online registration will close September 20, 2017, two weeks prior to the event.
