Pokemon Go Blamed For Billions In Damage

(TIPPECANOE CO.) - Two researchers are blaming Pokemon Go for vehicle crashes and deaths in one Indiana county.

The duo from Purdue University looked over police reports from Tippecanoe County between March 2015 and November 2015.

Pokemon Go, played by people using their smart phones at real-world locations, came out in July 2016.

After that date, the team found crashes near those real-world locations jumped nearly 50 percent.

The crashes took two lives and left 31 injured, causing nearly a half-million dollars in vehicle damage.

The researchers extrapolated nationwide to blame the game for more than 250 deaths and billions in property damage.
