(WASHINGTON D.C.) - The Department of Defense received 6,153 reports of sexual abuse during fiscal year 2016, an 8.4 percent increase above the previous year’s collection of 5,675 sex abuse reports.
Talk Media News reports, the 2016 tabulation includes 2,205 reports from Army installations, 1,285 from the Navy, 825 from Marines, 1,043 from Air Force, 670 from the Joint Bases, and 125 from combat areas.
The installations with the highest numbers of sexual abuse reports were Naval Station Norfolk, Va., with 270 reports; Joint Base San Antonio, Tex., with 211, and Fort Hood, Tex., with 199.
