(WASHINGTON D.C.) - The U.S. added 228,000 jobs in November, according to data released Friday by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, bringing the three month average of new jobs to 170,000.
The largest increase came in professional and business services, which added 46,000 jobs, while manufacturing was second with 31,000 new jobs and health care followed with 30,000.
Construction also saw an increase, with 23,000 new jobs.
White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders applauded the numbers as a sign that "President Trump's bold economic vision continues to pay off."
"With tax reform moving quickly through Congress, confidence in the strength of our economy remains high and families around the country are reaping the benefits," Sanders said in a statement.
The unemployment rate hovered at 4.1 percent, virtually unchanged from the previous month.
The amount of new jobs in October was revised downward from 261,000 to 244,000 but the initial 18,000 in September was revised upward to 38,000.
