(JENNINGS CO.) - A North Vernon man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on a county road in Jennings County.
The crash claimed the life of 31-year-old Travis Green.
Indiana State Police and Jennings County Sheriff's Department deputies were called to the crash on County Road 450W near U.S. 50 about 6 p.m. Thursday.
Trooper Matt Holley of the Indiana State Police Versailles Crash Reconstruction Team say Green was traveling north in a 2012 Hyundai Accent on County Road 450W, about a half mile south of U.S. 50, when he lost control of the vehicle, ran off of the road and struck a tree.
The vehicle stopped on the edge of County Road 450W, where it caught fire, according to a state police news release.
Green was pronounced dead at the scene by the Jennings County Coroner's Office..
The investigation is ongoing, and it is unknown whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash, the state police said.
Trooper David Owsley, Jennings County EMS and Spencer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
