(INDIANAPOLIS) - State Schools Superintendent Jennifer McCormick is asking lawmakers to require kids to start school two years earlier.
McCormick wants lawmakers to move-up the required first day of school from age seven to age five.
McCormick says Indiana is just one of 16 states that allow kids to start school that late.
She says by age seven many kids in other states are already in the second grade.
