(MICHIGAN CITY) - Indiana Conservation Officers are proud to announce that Officer Tyler Brock was selected as the 2017 District 10 Officer of the Year.
Officer Brock, is a 6 year veteran of the Indiana Department of Natural Resources - Law Enforcement Division. He is currently serving in Porter County.
Brock graduated from Valparaiso High School in 2008, and then attended Vincennes University receiving an Associate's Degree in Conservation Law Enforcement.
Officer Brock came back to Indiana, after serving two years with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources - Law Enforcement Division, as a Water Patrol Officer.
In 2011, Brock was appointed as an Indiana Conservation Officer after completing numerous months of rigorous training. Then, attending the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy - Plainfield and graduated in 2012.
Officer Brock is an extremely dedicated officer who has held many extra duties in addition to his daily patrol responsibilities. He is a very dedicated Public Information Officer, Field Training Officer, and Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) Operator.
When off-duty, Tyler enjoys spending time with family, fishing, hunting and restoring vintage aluminum boats.
The District Officer of the Year Award, was voted on by her peers which includes all of the Officers within District 10.
This award not only gives him local recognition, but will make him eligible to compete against 9 other officers, from across the state, for the Annual Pitzer Award.
This award was named after Indiana Conservation Officer James D. Pitzer who was shot and killed in the line of duty while checking rabbit hunters on January 1, 1961.
