(INDIANAPOLIS) - A proposal to make Indiana gun permits free for life would slice a chunk of money out of Indiana’s budget.
Nearly 90-percent of Indiana gun permits are lifetime permits.
The money goes to police training and body armor.
House Speaker Brian Bosma says legislators are highly likely to pass a bill making those permits free. That could cost the state as much as $7 million.
Bosma says he doesn't know what the actual loss will be, but says it could be closer to four-million.
