(INDIANAPOLIS) - Joining dozens of other governors and county leaders nationwide, Gov. Holcomb has issued a proclamation officially declaring Jan. 21-27 as Indiana School Choice Week.
Indiana parents, teachers, and students will host more than 650 events across the state, celebrating the educational options parents have and raising awareness about options parents want to have for their children.
Across the country, more than 32,000 rallies, roundtable discussions, coffeehouse meetups, festivals, school fairs, and other events have been independently planned to take place during the week.
"We are thrilled that the whole state of Indiana will officially be part of the School Choice Week celebration," said Andrew Campanella, president of National School Choice Week. "Like parents everywhere, Indiana parents want the best for their children - and that means they need choices. We're delighted that Gov. Holcomb has issued this proclamation, raising awareness about school choice."
Held every January, National School Choice Week is an independent, nonpartisan, nonpolitical public awareness effort designed to shine a positive spotlight on effective education options for every child. Through thousands of independently planned events across the country, National School Choice Week raises public awareness of all types of educational choices available to children. These options include traditional public schools, public charter schools, public magnet schools, online learning, private schools, and homeschooling.
