2018-19 Hunting Seasons Dates Now Available

(INDIANAPOLIS) - The 2018-19 hunting seasons are now posted.
Dates for migratory bird and waterfowl seasons will become available in the summer.
Their seasons are set by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service in cooperation with DNR Division of Fish & Wildlife.
INDIANA 2018-2019 HUNTING & TRAPPING SEASONS
Furbearers Hunting Dates:
- Red and Gray Fox - October 15, 2018 - February 28, 2019
- Coyote, Striped Skunk - October 15, 2018 - March 15, 2019
- Raccoon, Opossum - November 8, 2018 - January 31, 2019
- Dog Running (Raccoon, Opossum) - February 1, 2018 - October 25, 2018 and February 1, 2019- October 25, 2019
Furbearers Trapping Dates:
- Red and Gray Fox - October 15, 2018 - January 31, 2019
- Coyote, Striped Skunk - October 15, 2018 - March 15, 2019
- Beaver - November 15, 2018 - March 15, 2019
- Mink, Muskrat, Weasel (long-tailed weasel only) - November 15, 2018 - January 31, 2019
- Raccoon, Opossum - November 8, 2018 - January 31, 2019
- River Otter - November 15, 2019 - March 15, 2019*
Furbearer hunting & trapping hours:
- Hunting/Running - noon of first day to noon of last day. Trapping - 8 a.m. of first day to noon of last day.
- *There is a seasonal bag limit of 2 river otters per person; there are no daily bag or possession limits for the other species named above.
- *See Hunting and Trapping Guide for counties open to river otter trapping. Season may close earlier if statewide quota is reached.
Woodland Big Game Hunting Dates/Bag Limits
Wild Turkey: October 1, 2018 - October 28, 2018; limit 1 bearded or male
Youth: April 21 and 22, 2018; limit 1 bearded or male turkey per hunter in youth/spring season
Spring: April 25, 2018 - May 13, 2018
Fall: Archery:* December 8, 2018 - January 6, 2019 - 1 bird of either sex per hunter
Fall: Firearm :*December 8, 2018 - January 6, 2019 and October 17, 2018 - October 28, 2018- 1 bird of either sex per hunter
- Turkey hunting hours: ½ hour before sunrise to sunset.
- * See Hunting and Trapping Guide for counties open to fall turkey hunting. No more than one bird of either sex maybe taken in the fall turkey season, regardless of equipment. A separate turkey license is needed for the spring and fall turkey season.
- All harvested turkey must be checked within 48 hours of harvest at an official deer or turkey check station or online at www.wildlife.in.gov

- Deer hunting hours: ½ hour before sunrise to ½ hour after sunset.
- *Deer Reduction Zones, previously called Urban Zones, are in designated locations only.
- **Special Antlerless season only in counties with a bonus antlerless quota of 4 or more (See Hunting and Trapping Guide).
- All harvested deer must be checked within 48 hours of harvest at an official deer or turkey check station or online at www.wildlife.in.gov

- Crow: July 1, 2018 - August 15, 2018 and December 13, 2018 - March 1, 2019; No Limit
- Green Frog and Bullfrog: June 15, 2018 - April 30, 2019; limit 25
- Eastern Snapping Turtle, Smooth & Spiny Softshell Turtles: July 1, 2018 - March 31, 2019; limit 4****
- * The possession limit on pheasants, quail, rabbits, squirrels, frogs, and turtles is two times the daily bag limit.
- ** Ruffed Grouse season has been suspended.
- *** Quail bag limits vary on some DNR properties (see Hunting and Trapping Guide).
- ****Limit is singly or in aggregate. These species of turtles must have a carapace length of at least 12 inches.
