(WASHINGTON, D.C.) - Congressman Jim Banks (IN-03), a member of the House Armed Services Committee, today released the following statement after voting to fund the Department of Defense for the rest of the fiscal year, fund the rest of the federal government until March 23 and fund community health centers for two years:
"The men and women in uniform who serve our country deserve certainty, not stopgap funding measures that hurt training, resources and morale. Tonight's vote marks the fourth time during this Congress that the House has voted to fully fund our troops. I urge my Senate colleagues to immediately pass this legislation to avert another shutdown and provide our armed forces with the resources they need."
Banks spoke this morning during a press conference about the importance of Congress fully funding our military. Click here to view his remarks.
The House passed this legislation 245 to 182. It now heads to the Senate for consideration.
