(CLOVERDALE) - Indiana Conservation Officers responded to a call about a crash involving a pickup truck and a bicyclist. 55-year-old Michael Gilham of Poland was struck by an oncoming vehicle while riding a bicycle, and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The pickup truck involved in the crash was operated by 69-year-old Lisle Kimble of Cloverdale.
The incident took place around 1:50 p.m. Tuesday afternoon when a passerby reported a crash had occurred near the intersection of State Road 243 and County Road 1175 South. Indiana Conservation Officers responded to the scene and located Gilham entrapped underneath a pickup truck.
Indiana Conservation Officers and other first responders were able to remove the pickup truck to extricate Gilham from underneath the vehicle.
Indiana Conservation Officers are currently investigating the incident. An autopsy is being completed at 8 a.m. today at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute.
Putnam County Sheriff's Department, Cloverdale Fire Department, Cloverdale Police Department, Operational Life Emergency Services, Putnam County Coroner and Indiana State Police assisted at the scene.
