(KOSCIUSKO CO.) - The Indiana Department of Natural Resources has implemented emergency orders restricting boat activity on Lake Wawasee, Barbee Lake Chain and Tippecanoe Lake Chain, all in Kosciusko County.
The emergency order for Lake Wawasee orders that a person must not operate a motorized watercraft at a speed greater than idle speed.
The emergency order for Barbee Lake Chain and Tippecanoe Lake Chain orders that a person must not operate a motorized watercraft on the following lakes: Big Barbee Lake, Little Barbee Lake, Irish Lake, Kuhn Lake, Sawmill Lake and Sechrist Lake on the Barbee Chain and Tippecanoe Lake, Oswego Lake and James Lake on the Tippecanoe Lake Chain.
Regardless of whether a "Boating Restrictions" order is enacted or not, Indiana Conservation Officers encourage property owners to report all damages that are attributed to the recent flooding event. An Indiana property owner can contact the Indiana Department of Homeland Security (IDHS) Joint Information Center (JIC) which is the central repository for all flood related questions and claims. The preferred reporting method is online at bit.ly/2018rainfall or www.in.gov/dhs and select Damage Reporting under featured topics. If you do not have access online, they can be contacted between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. at: 317-238-1784.
