(TERRE HAUTE) - Work has started in Terre Haute to replace some gas mains and service lines.
The (Terre Haute) Tribune-Star reports the effort is part of a multi-year program by Vectren Energy Delivery to replace about 1,300 miles of bare-steel and cast-iron pipeline infrastructure through Indiana.
In Terre Haute, nearly $1.8 million will go toward retiring nearly four miles of gas main and more than 250 service lines this year. Nearly 40 miles have been retired within the city since 2008.
Vectren intends to retire nearly 80 miles in Terre Haute over the next several years. Terre Haute is one of nearly 75 cities in the state undergoing this type of pipeline replacement.
