(UNDATED) - Heart disease is the number one killer in females.
The Women's Heart Alliance says that across the nation, a woman dies of heart disease every 80 seconds. Often times women don't know what kind of symptoms to even look for.
In Indiana, from 2013 to 2015, an average of nine women were killed by heart disease each day, and nearly half of those deaths were deemed preventable.
More Indiana residents die of heart disease than any other cause of death.
Officials say women should get their hearts checked as often as their yearly mammograms.
