(MOUNT COMFORT) - Online car retailer Carvana LLC plans to open an auto refurbishing center in central Indiana that would initially employ about 200 workers.
Carvana will occupy about 70 acres in the Hancock County community of Mount Comfort, just east of Indianapolis.
The Hancock County Area Plan Commission's executive director, Mike Dale, tells the Indianapolis Business Journal the company has informed county officials the site will serve as an auto refurbishment center for Carvana.
Carvana buys used cars at auction, performs needed repairs, body work and painting, stores them on-site and delivers purchased cars to customers.
Carvana's director of real estate, Chris Santone, told the (Greenfield) Daily Reporter last month the Mount Comfort site is expected to hold as many as 5,000 vehicles for refurbishing and will initially employ about 200 workers.
