(FLOYDS KNOBS) - Authorities say a southern Indiana chemical spill that killed some fish has been cleaned up and no longer poses a danger to humans or animals.
Floyd County Emergency Management Director Kent Barrow says chemical spilled was spotted Monday in Yellow Fork Creek near the town of Floyds Knobs. The chemical normally used to deodorize portable toilets and holding tanks had been placed in a storm drain that emptied into the creek.
Barrow says crews erected a temporary dam upstream from the spill and pumped the water out until it was clear Monday night. He says wildlife had returned to the water by Tuesday morning.
He says the source of the chemical remains under investigation.
