(KOKOMO) - Indiana Conservation Officers are investigating the theft of equipment and sporting goods which have occurred over the past two years at Mississinewa Reservoir. Two male suspects were arrested today on warrants in Wabash County.
Throughout 2017, Conservation Officers were notified of thefts of various items from boats in the mooring area of Mississinewa Reservoir. Items stolen were mostly fishing tackle and fishing poles. Other items stolen included bait boxes, depth finders, and electronics. Conservation Officers were able to narrow down a window of time the items were reported stolen and set up surveillance on the mooring area.
On Memorial Day Weekend 2018, Conservation Officers were notified of several more thefts occurring at the mooring area of Mississinewa Reservoir. Conservation Officers again set up surveillance on the area and were able to gather necessary information to receive warrants from the Wabash County Prosecutor's Office for the arrest of two suspects from Kokomo.
35-year-old Daniel Huckelby of Kokomo and 31-year-old Dustin Newby of Kokomo were taken into custody without incident at approximately 7:00 AM this morning. Both suspects are being charged in Wabash County with 2 counts of Felony Theft and 2 counts of Misdemeanor Theft. The investigation is still pending.
Indiana Conservation Officers were assisted by Wabash County Sheriff Department. All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
