(STATEHOUSE) — State Sen. Eric Koch (R-Bedford) will serve on the following study committee, commission and council during the summer and fall to help prepare lawmakers for the 2019 legislative session:
"Unwanted calls, particularly to cellphones using spoofed names and numbers, have become a tremendous nuisance. I look forward to examining what further can be done to address this problem.
"Interim study committees give legislators the opportunity to discuss a variety of topics pertaining to criminal law, education, technology and Hoosier veterans and hear public testimony from stakeholders and experts. This allows us to go into the next legislative session better informed on issues that need to be addressed."
When Indiana's part-time legislature is not in session, lawmakers serve on interim study committees that meet to review the state's top issues, as identified by the General Assembly during the prior legislative session.
Study committee topics are assigned by the bipartisan Legislative Council, comprised of 16 voting members -- eight from the Senate and eight from the House of Representatives.
