(BOONVILLE) - A man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison for the fatal shooting of his ex-girlfriend in southwestern Indiana.
WFIE-TV reports 23-year-old Isaiah Hagan was sentenced Thursday for murder, robbery and obstruction of justice convictions in connection with the April 2017 slaying of Halee Rathgeber.
At a hearing in July after the verdict, Hagan accepted an offer from prosecutors for the 60-year sentence. Hagan could have been sentenced to life in prison without parole.
However, Hagan maintains his innocence in the slaying of the University of Southern Indiana student, whose body was found at a Warrick County soccer complex. The judge appointed Hagan a new attorney for the appeal.
