Last updated on Wednesday, August 22, 2018

(FORT WAYNE) - A state-supported college campus in Fort Wayne has a new identity and with it more enrollment.

Purdue University Fort Wayne welcomed students to campus on Monday. The Fort Wayne school was formerly part of Indiana-Purdue-Fort Wayne.

Chancellor Ronald Elsenbaumer announced during a convocation a new compensation merit program for eligible faculty and staff that was made possible by enrollment that exceeded projections.

The Journal Gazette reports total credit hours are up by 1.6 percent and new student enrollment is up by nearly 17 percent among undergraduates and by nearly 40 percent for graduate students.

IPFW split into two branch campuses on July 1. The other campus is Indiana University Fort Wayne.
