(SOUTH BEND) - Authorities say a police officer was shot in the leg when his gun inadvertently discharged while he was putting it back in a holster during an arrest in northern Indiana.
The South Bend officer was treated at a hospital and released following the Wednesday afternoon shooting.
Police say the officer was trying to arrest a robbery suspect when the gun went off. Officers had been trying to detain the man when they were approached by several people, including one who tried to interfere with the arrest. Police say the robbery suspect and the other person were taken into custody.
