(SCOTT CO.) - Indiana Department of Transportation officials met with contractor personnel and utility company representatives on Oct. 19th at Seymour District offices to coordinate efforts for advancing a $17,643,775 multi-phase project that will rebuild State Road 256 east of Austin and replace the bridge at Hutto Creek.
Milestone, the state's contractor, is charged with rebuilding and widening the 5-mile section of State Road 256 between U.S. Highway 31 and a terminus east of State Road 203. Columbus-based crews will construct a new single-span bridge over Hutto Creek near Meridian Road, realign State Road 256's intersection with Coffee Pot Road and build a center left turn lane at State Road 203.
Utility relocations are underway. Site clearing will occur in November. Construction should start next April.
During 2019, INDOT's contractor plans to begin with bridge work at Hutto Creek - 1.3 miles east of U.S. 31 - and rebuild the highway working in both directions from the bridge.
