(INDIANAPOLIS) - An Indiana University researcher has created an art exhibit intended to demystify the hot flashes that menopausal women experience.
Janet S. Carpenter is an associate dean for research at IU's School of Nursing in Indianapolis. She created the "Hot Flashes? Cool!" art exhibit to dispel myths about hot flashes and sparking a dialogue about the bothersome menopause symptom.
Carpenter's exhibit features art, music, and film that are intended to prevent the use of unproven treatments and provide accurate information about hot flashes. She says that while nearly three-fourths of women say they seek medical help for menopause, most women say they're confused about their treatment options.
Carpenter's exhibit will be traveling to the West Coast, Canada and around the Midwest late this year and during early 2019.
