(INDIANAPOLIS) - A teenager charged as an adult in the fatal shooting of a man has been sentenced to 48 years in prison.
A Marion County judge sentenced 17-year-old Jalen N. Thomas on Monday in the February 2017 killing.
Thomas was convicted in October of murder and robbery resulting in serious bodily injury in the death of 20-year-old Jacob Arnett.
The Indianapolis Star reports that Thomas was 15 when authorities say he shot Arnett during a botched robbery of marijuana. The victim was found dead in a bathtub inside a house.
The allegations were initially filed in juvenile court, but Thomas was waived to adult court in October 2017.
Another defendant, Ahmond Hubbard, received 17 years in prison after pleading guilty to robbery resulting in serious bodily injury.
