(INDIANAPOLIS) - Gov. Eric J. Holcomb and Google.org Tuesday announced a grant to expand The Last Mile, a technology and business skills-training program for learners behind bars.
Part of that grant will support the launch of Indiana's first coding program for incarcerated juveniles at the Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility.
Some of the funds will also be used to outfit the inaugural Indiana program at the Indiana Women's Prison with new computers, electronic devices and audiovisual equipment for students and their instructor.
Gov. Holcomb, MC Hammer, The Last Mile graduate Jennifer Browning and DJ Sway Calloway stop for a photo during the graduation of the first cohort of the program at the Indiana Women's Prison.
At Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility, The Last Mile program's newest participants show Gov. Holcomb what they've been learning.
Gov. Holcomb along with The Last Mile, Google.org, Indiana Department of Correction and others cut the ribbon on the new program at the Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility.
