Velma M. Walker of Mitchell passed away Saturday morning, December 12th at her residence at the age of 86.
Born in 1923 in Mitchell to parents, Noah Franklin and Nora (Edwards) Barnes, she had been married to Kermit Paul Walker since 1942.
Velma was a homemaker and a member of the First Baptist Church and Tri Kappa and graduated from Mitchell High School in the class of 1942.
She is survived by her husband; one son, Gary Walker; one daughter, Diane Dixon and four grandchildren as well as seven great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Vicky S. Kinney and three sisters, Hazel Hack, Rowena Reuter and Leona Greene.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00PM on Tuesday, December 15th in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with burial to follow in Mitchell Cemetery.
