Christina Maxine Matlock of Bedford, formerly of Indianapolis passed away Saturday morning, March 6th at her son’s residence in Orleans at the age of 85.
Born in 1924 in Indianapolis, Indiana to parents, Marshall and Almira Katherine (Bowmen) Evans, she had been married to Carl J. Matlock since 1943.
Christina was a real estate broker in Indianapolis, served as a secretary for the airforce during World War II, was of Weslyan faith and attended Faith Mission Church and served many years as youth leader for the Nazarene Indianapolis District Young Peoples Society.
She also traveled in Evangelism, both singing and preaching for over 30 years and was a graduate of Ben Davis High School in the class of 1943.
She is survived by two sons, Carl Kent Matlock and his wife, Janet, Joseph Kieth Matlock and his wife Charlotte; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; three sisters-in-law, Markorie Sulgrove, Jane Evans and Norma Evans and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; two sisters, Marcile Evans and Margaret Orders and three brothers, James, Loren Gilbert and Warren Evans.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 9th at 10:30AM at Ferguson – Lee Funeral Home with burial to follow in Mundell Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4:00PM until 8:00PM on Monday, March 8th and from 9:00AM until the hour of service on Tuesday, March 9th.
