Avery F. New of Oolitic passed away Saturday morning, March 13th at his residence at the age of 86.
Born in 1924 in Hazard, Kentucky to parents, Harvey and Betsy (Young) New, he had been married to Frances H. Patton.
Avery was retired from General Motors after 30 years, farmed for 50 years, was a member of the UAW Local 440 and F & AM American Patriot Lodge #750.
He is survived by his wife; daughters, Freida May, Elaine Holt and her husband Bob and Paulette Sherrill and her husband George as well as several grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Joyce Strunk; four brothers, Ardell, Otto, Noel and Millard New and three sisters, Sadie Young, Ida Nikirk and Lily Decker as well as a step-grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 16th at 2:00PM in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with burial to follow in Patton Hill Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2:00PM until 8:00PM on Monday, March 15th and on Tuesday, March 16th from 11:00AM until the hour of service.
