Daniel Walker Johnson – Mitchell
Daniel Walker Johnson, 52, of Mitchell, passed away at 7:11 p.m. Monday, January 23, 2012, at his residence.
Born July 31, 1959, in Logansport, he was the son of Perry and Carolyn Sue (Hatfield) Johnson. He married Diane Jones November 14, 1980 and she survives.
He was a truck driver and graduated from Bedford North Lawrence High School in 1978. He was a member of Praise Cathedral in Seymour.
Survivors include his wife, Diane Johnson, of Mitchell; son, Daniel Walker Evan Johnson, of Mitchell; mother, Carolyn Sue Johnson, of Bedford; brothers, Dale Evan Johnson, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Perry Joseph Johnson, of Leesville,
He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 27, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Pastor G. L. Williams officiating. Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery on Hunters Creek in Bloomington.
Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Wanda Nell Starr – Bedford
Wanda Nell Starr, 80, of Bedford passed away at 3 p.m. Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Garden Villa.
Born March 23, 1931 in Corsicana, Texas, she was the daughter of Wesley and Ina (Johnson) McClintock. She married Charles Wayne Starr on June 30, 1951 and he preceded her in death on April 19, 1987.
She was a retired office manager at Mills Market in Bedford and then worked in the office of CWR Vending (Tom’s Sales) in Bedford. She was a graduate of Vandale High School in Vandale, Arkansas. She was a member of the Community Baptist Church and she was the founder of Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services.
Survivors include a daughter Tran Bond, of Bedford; a son Charles “Bud” and wife Lisa Starr, of Bedford; 3 grandchildren, Staci and husband Nick Finney, of Whiteland, Britton Starr, of Bloomington, J.J. Starr, of Indianapolis; a great grandson Cooper Finney, of Whiteland.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.
There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be announced at a later date. And there will be a private burial in Green Hill Cemetery.

Allan G. “Mick” Eckert – Bedford
Allan G. “Mick” Eckert, 75, of Bedford, passed away on Monday, January 23, 2012.
He was born on November 2, 1937 in LaPorte to Alvy and Edith (Lindburg) Ecklert. He graduated from San Pierre High School and then received several degrees from Ball State University. He married Jolene (Jones) Eckert on July 17, 1998. He was previously married to Judy Eckert, the mother of his children.
He retired from teaching, coaching, principal and administration at West Central High School after several years of service. He then joined State Farm Insurance Companies in 1979, working in management, until becoming an agent.
Mick was involved in the local Kiwanis Club, Rotary Club, and was an active member of the Moose Lodge, American Legion, VFW, FOP and BPOE, where he served as Exulted Ruler.
Survivors include his children, Allen Scott (RJ) Eckert, of Wisconsin, Christopher and wife Pam Eckert, of Michigan, Amy and husband Wayne Gerst, of Indiana; three grandchildren, Spencer and Delany Gerst and Aiden Eckert; sister-in-law, Tina and husband Greg Tyree, Kay and husband Robin Mille, Sherry Holt, Jennifer Haase; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-in-law Mark Jones, mother-in-law mable Jones, sister-in-law, Susan Collier and great nephew Gage Pruett.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2012 at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with Father Charlie Carpenter officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home and on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. prior to service.
Memorial may be made to a charity of donor’s choice in Mark’s honor.
