Bill E. Watson – Mitchell
Bill E. Watson, 76, of Mitchell, passed away at 1:10 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2012, at IU Health Bedford.
Born February 20, 1935, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Lawrence (Red) Watson and Clara (Miles) Shoopman. He married Carol L. Pemberton February 10, 1956, and she preceded him in death June 24, 2011.
He had been employed as building commissioner for the City of Mitchell and retired from Naval Weapons Support Center – Crane. He was a member of Masonic Lodge No. 228 F&AM, and Spring Mill FOP. Bill was a U. S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War and a member of American Legion Post No. 250.
Survivors include sons, Bryan Keith, wife Sheila Watson, Mitchell, Barry Kent, wife Charlotte Watson, Mitchell, Brent Kelly, wife Pam Watson, Mitchell; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, February 6, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home with Rev. Stephen Jones officiating. Burial will be in Lawrenceport Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107.
Friends may call from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Sunday, and from 9:30 a.m. until the service today at the funeral home.

Lina Elizabeth “Granny” McPherson – Shoals
Lina Elizabeth “Granny” McPherson, 85, of Shoals, passed away at 1:30 p.m. Friday, February 3, 2012, at her residence.
Born December 22, 1926, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of James M. and Minnie Pearl (Patton) Reynolds. She married James Owen McPherson November 7, 1942 and he preceded her in death October 20, 2009.
She was a homemaker and a member of the House of Prayer.
Survivors include daughter, Brenda, husband Paul Moffatt, Shoals, sons, Larry, wife Bonnie McPherson, Medora, Garry wife Vicki McPherson, Shoals, Perry wife Linda McPherson, Bloomington; daughter in law, Sue McPherson, Mitchell; sisters, Dolly Gaddy, Charlotte, North Carolina, Ruby Reynolds, Bedford; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren .
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Linda McPherson; and son, Terry McPherson.
Graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 7, at Mt. Olive Cemetery with Rev. Bill Raines officiating.

M. Lois Speer – Bedford
M. Lois Speer, 73, of Bedford, passed away on Friday, February 3, 2010.
Born on October 7, 1938 in Bedford to Everett L. and Ordella Mae (Marsh) Speer. She was married to Vernon Jack Allen on October 16, 1954, they were married for 24 years. She was a homemaker and worked at the Times-Mail and also Older Americans. She attended Free Methodist Church for her last three years and was a long time member of Faith Mission Church. She was also a member of Phi Beta Psi Sorority.
Survivors include her husband Vernon Jack Allen; two daughters, Wilma husband Rick Root, of Bedford, Kathy, husband Tim McDonald, of Springville; two sons, Roger, wife Marlene Allen and Vernon, wife Karlynn Allen, both of Bedford; 7 grandchildren, Jonathan, wife Crystal Allen, Jason, wife Rachel Allen, Kentlee, wife Christina Root, Steve, wife Cassie Root, Kaylen, husband Eric Doolan, Anthony, McDonald, Matthew McDonald; six great grandchildren, Carson, Addisyn, Isabella Root and Graiden, Brynlee, Jovie Allen; two sisters, Mary Lou Speer, of Bedford, Donna McPherson, of Medora; three brothers, Herbert, wife Helen Speer and Hubert, wife Kay Speer, both of Bedford, Gary, wife Linda Speer, of Gainesville, TX.; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son Anthony Wayne Allen in infancy; two sisters Wanda Pratt and Ruth Level.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, with Pastor John Lane officiating. Burial will follow at Dixon chapel Cemetery in Leesville. Friends may call today from 4 p.m.to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Susan E. Brock – Norman
Susan E. Brock, 58, of Norman passed away Friday, February 3, 2012 at IU Health Bedford Hospital.
She was born Nov. 1, 1953 in Bedford to Ray and Essie Dell (Cummings) Blackwell. She held many jobs including Lincoln Plaza Pharmacy. She loved the outdoors, camping and horseback riding.
She is survived by her husband Jack Brock, of Norman; mother Essie Dell Blackwell, of Heltonville, son Justin and wife Lana Blackwell, of Norman; daughter Whitney Brock, of Norman; brother Steve, wife Beth Blackwell, of Heltonville, sisters Sharlene Christenberry and Sharon, husband Steve Johnson, of Heltonville; 5 grandchildren, Ali Robertson, Larissa Blackwell, Garrett Blackwell, Wyatt Blackwell, Brook Phipps.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home in Heltonville. Burial will follow at Weddleville Cemetery.
The family asks in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Leukemia Foundation.
