The following obituaries were received for Monday –


Arie A. Brewington – Bedford
Arie A. Brewington, 99, of Bedford, died at 12:06 p.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2012, at Johnson’s Christian Village in Bedford.
Born January 21, 1913, in Eureka, she was the daughter of Nellie Frances (Sears) and James Franklin Skeen. She married Bertie M. Myers on March 26, 1933, and then Cloyce Brewington on August 5, 1981. They both preceded her in death.
Arie was a bookkeeper for the Bedford Federal Savings Bank for 23 years. She was a member of the Englewood Baptist church and volunteered more than 10,000 hours for Dunn Memorial Hospital and various other Bedford nursing homes. Arie graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1932 and Bedford Business College in 1933.
Survivors include a daughter, Geraldine Marie Roberts of California; two step-daughters, Donna Hammond and Mary Helen Granda, both of Indiana; four grandchildren, Julie A. McGinness, Jon D. Roberts, Lora Lanz and Jay C. Roberts, all of California; three step-grandchildren; four step-great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandsons; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; and four brothers, James Harold, Roy R., William Dale and Harry W. Skeen; and one sister, Edith Marie Skeen.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. today, May 7, at the Englewood Baptist Church with Pastor David Ferry officiating. Burial will follow at Old Union Cemetery.

Gladys M. Brooking – Mitchell
Gladys M. Brooking, 73, of Mitchell, died at 6:31 a.m. on Friday, May 4, 2012, at IU Health in Bedford.
Born September 30, 1938, in Clear Springs, Jackson Co., IN, she was the daughter of Paul W. and Clara M. (Burford) Brooking.
She worked many years at Westinghouse, Bloomington, retiring in 1990. She later worked at White River Lodge in Bedford. She was a member of the Baptist Faith and had attended New Hope Community Church; she was a volunteer with the Pink Ladies at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital in Bedford; attended the Senior Citizens’ Club in Bedford, and enjoyed traveling with Happy Travelers in Bedford.
Surviving are five brothers, Carl W. and wife Phyllis Brooking, of Tunnelton, IN; Robert and wife Janet Brooking, of Leesville, IN; Kenneth E. Brooking, of Bedford IN; Gary and wife Sue Brooking, of Bedford, and Louis and wife Paula Brooking, of Norman (Zelma), IN; one sister-in-law, Mary Jo Brooking, Bedford, IN; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Paul R. Brooking; and one sister, Mary Lou Brazzell-Blondin.
Funeral service will be on today, May 7, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, with Pastor Lewis Williams officiating. Burial will be in Bryantsville Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be considered to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital Foundation.

Amanda Faye -Ann Wolber – Bedford

Amanda Faye-Ann Wolber, 20, of Bedford, passed away at 1:52 p.m. on Wednesday, from injuries suffered in an auto accident.
Born August 23, 1991 in Bloomington, she was the daughter of Andrew and Tonia (Brberson) Wolber. She was engaged to Levi Wright and was soon to be Amanda Wright on June 23, 2012. She was employed at the Guide Pointe Church where she was a member and involved with Hands of Praise. She was an alumnus of J.C.’s Christian Academy and currently a student at Ivy Tech pursuing a degree in Liberal Arts. Amanda was an artist, singer and avid reader. She loved God, her family and cooking.
Survivors include her parents, of Bedford; her husband-to-be Levi Wright, of Bedford; two sisters, Whitney R. Hartwell and husband Curtis, of Columbus and Elizabeth G. Pace, of Bedford; a brother, Matthew R. Wolber, of Bedford; nephews, Colton Taylor and Sebastian Hartwell; a niece, Chole Taylor; her maternal grandmother, Beverly Orberson Calhoun, of Columbus.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, William G. and Velma F. Wolber; her maternal grandfather, Marion Orberson.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today, May 7th, at the Guide Pointe Church with Pastor Chris Perry and Kenneth Allen officiating. Burial will follow in the Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from noon until the hour of service today at the Guide Pointe Church at 527 E. 15th Street, in Bedford.

Merel L. Sipes – Cale

Merel L. Sipes, 73, of Cale, passed away Friday, May 4, 2012 at 4:07 p.m. at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
He was born on April 2, 1939 in Trinity Springs and was the son of Edgar T. and Zeta (Stroud) Sipes.
He was employed at Loogootee Clay Products and the Todd Lumber Company in Bedford.
Survivors include his sisters, Roma Bateman, of Cale, Mary Hungate, of Williams, Frances Nolting, of Jefferson City, MO.; five brothers, George, Joseph and Elton Sipes, of Cale, Ricky Sipes, of Sommerville, TN., Dennis Sipes, of Caruthersville, MO.; 8 nieces and one nephew.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Queen-Lee Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, May, 8, 2012 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Olive Cemetery.

Bessie Beatrice McKinney Whitted – Bedford
Bessie Beatrice McKinney Whitted, 76, of Bedford, passed away at 7:28 a.m. May 5, 2012 at Westview Nursing and Rehabilitation in Bedford.
Born October, 31, 1935 in Bedford, she was the daughter of Elmer and Effie (Knuckles) McKinney. She married Richard Whitted on December 24, 1960 and he passed away on May 9, 2001. She worked at Travellers, in Orleans; Sarkes Tarzian, in Bloomington and Wamp’s Restaurant, in Bedford. She attended 39th Street Christian Church, in Bedford.
Survivors include her sister, Wilma McPike, of Bedford and several nieces and nephews, including David Luttrell and wife Michelle, of Bedford, who was raise in her home.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, seven sisters, Marie York, Marjorie Patton, Irene Fuller, Violet Skeen, Faye Hicks, Stella Chastain and Linda McKinney at birth; five brothers, George, Albert, Roger and Robert McKinney and Glen Chastain.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, May 8, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with Brother Mike Holsapple officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Ferguson-Lee Funeral home to help defray funeral expenses.

E. Marie Sanders – Bedford

E. Marie Sanders, 92, formerly of Bedford, passed away at 12:50 a.m. on Saturday, May 5, 2012 at the Seymour Crossing in Seymour.
Born January 28, 1920 in Oolitic, she was the daughter of Jess and Mollie (Hubbard) Lavender. She married Harold J. Sanders, February 25, 1937 and he passed away on August 19, 1985. She worked at S.S. Kresge and Company in Bedford and worked in the cafeteria at Oolitic High School. She was the former Republican Precinct Vice Committee Women and was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include two sons, Jack and wife Carolyn Sanders, of Indianapolis, Lloyd and Ruthie Sanders, of Seymour; 8 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, on son, Danny Sanders; a daughter, Cynthia Kay Owen; four sisters, Margaret Christenberry, Flossie Lavender, Ruby Baker and Lorene Hall; three brothers, Claude Henry Lavender, Clovus “Buck” Lavender and Harry Lavender.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 10, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Greene officiating. Burial will be in the Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 9, 2012 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
