Robert W. Johnson – East Oolitic
Robert W. Johnson, 72, of East Oolitic, passed away at 4:35 p.m. on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at St Vincent Dunn Hospital.
Born August 8, 1939 in East Oolitic he was the son of Coy Johnson and Hazel (Sullivan) Johnson. He married Geraldine Craig on December 22, 1956 and she survives.
He was a limestone quarry worker and trucking business owner, retiring in the late 1980s. He was of the Pentecostal faith, having attended the House of Prayer in Fayetteville. He loved to hunt rabbits, squirrel and mushrooms with his grandsons.
Survivors include his wife Geraldine, of East Oolitic; one daughter, Sherry Spires, of East Oolitic; two grandchildren, Robert and wife Cindy Summitt and Cody Spires, both of East Oolitic; one sister, Betty Smith, of Peerless; two brothers, Lloyd Johnson, of Bedford, and Richard Johnson, of East Oolitic; several nieces and nephews and his dog Lucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, Norma Box, Wanda Harvey and Mary Black and one son-in-law, Robert Spires.
A memorial services will be held at 8 p.m., Friday, August 10, 2012 at the Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Johnson officiating.
Friends may call on Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mary D. Smale – Bedford
Mary D. Smale, 81, of Bedford, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2012 in Indianapolis.
Born October 7, 1930 in Cornwall Ontario, Canada and raised in South Wales, was the daughter of Percy Augustus and Lily (Robinson) Morgan. She married Harold “Gene” Smale on June 25, 1950. She had worked at J.C. Penney Company and was a member of the Bartlettsville Christian Church. She was a homemaker and mother.
Survivors include her husband, Gene, of Bedford; three sons, Rick W. Smale and wife Cindy, James D. Smale and wife Angie and David Allen Smale, all of Bedford; one daughter, Terri Lynn Padgett and husband John, of Bedford; seven grandchildren; seven great grandchildren and one on the way; one sister, Irene Talbot and husband Ken, of Mississippi.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, Pelham, Billy, Percy, Lil and Doris; a daughter-in-law Belinda Smale.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 10th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Tim Day, minister of Bartlettsville Christian Church and Jim Crane, minister of South Union Christian Church in Bloomington officiating. Burial will follow in Judah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 9th at Day & Carter Mortuary.

Donna J. Miller – Mitchell
Donna J. Miller, 77, of Mitchell, passed away at 7:12 p.m. Tuesday, August 7, 2012, at IU Health Bedford Hospital.
Born March 21, 1935, in Martin County, she was the daughter of Harris R. and Garnett (Mundy) Mundy. She married Robert Eugene Miller November 27, 1952. Donna retired from Dollar General after 16 years. She graduated from Huron High School in 1953, and attended the Orleans Church of Christ.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Miller, of Mitchell; mother, Garnett Mundy, of Mitchell; son, Michael B. Miller, of Bedford; daughter, Renee Reathaford and husband, Mike, of Orleans; grandchildren, Jake Williams and wife, Lori, of Orleans, Cody Reathaford and fiancée, Keisha, of Orleans, Jessica (Williams) Hammack and husband, Travis, of Salem, 4 great grandchildren; sister, Janice White and husband, Don, of Bedford.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, August 10th in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Brother Michael Mahler officiating. Burial will be in Port William Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 10 a.m., until the service on Friday at the funeral home.
