Harley Wade – Williams
Harley Wade, 90, of Williams passed away at 9:29 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at IU Health Bedford Hospital.
Born January 15, 1922 in Martin County he was the son of Isaac and Eva (Stroud) Wade. He married Nellie Mae Hardwick on December 20, 1947 and she preceded him in death on May 19, 2012. Harley retired from the Ordnance Department of the Naval Weapons Support Center, Crane which is now known as the Crane Army Ammunition Activity in May 1976. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during WW II and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Harley enjoyed working on cars and rebuilt several motors for friends and family throughout the years. He loved doing things for other people. He was of the Christian faith.
Survivors include three children, Judy Mitchell and husband Rick, of Bedford, Kathy McKenzie and husband Ron of Magnolia, KY and Richard Wade and wife Theressa, of Williams; four grandchildren, Derek Mitchell and wife Lauralee, of Delphi, Matthew Wade, of Williams; Kyle McKenzie and wife AJ and Justin McKenzie, of Kentucky; five great grandchildren, Avalee, Harlee, Tyler, David and Haylen; one sister, Ola Morrow and husband Herschel, of Bedford; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, William, George and Harold; six sisters, Myrtle Moore, Gracie Fern Allen, Dessie Hawkins, Dovie Douglas, Gertie Owens and Victorine Rollman.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Brother Perry Tom East officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery where military rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post 33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 14th and from noon until the hour of service on Wednesday, August 15th at Day & Carter Mortuary.

Charles Robert “Bob” New – Oolitic
Charles Robert “Bob” New, 93, of Oolitic, passed away at 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, August 12, 2012 at his home.
Born February 22, 1919 in Lawrence County, he was the son of James and Fannie (Harvey) New. He married Elizabeth Hollars on July 4, 1946 and she preceded him in death on March 14, 2011. He retired after 45 years as sales manager and vice president of Indiana Limestone. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WW II. He attended New Life Trinity Holiness Tabernacle in Bedford and was a member of Gillen Post 33 American Legion.
Survivors include, one son, Barry New and wife Mary Lou, of Bedford; one daughter, Rita Barnes and husband Dean, of Oolitic; a brother, James R. New, of Bedford; five grandchildren, Shannon and wife Jeannie Barnes, Melissa and husband Brad Weilbaker, Brandon and wife Cybil New, Braxston Barnes and Heather Barnes; nine great grandchildren, Megan Barnes, Josie Barens, Brittani Weibaker, Braden Weilbaker, Brynliegh Barnes, Sadie Barnes, Addie Ward, Brilynn Weibaker, Isaac New, Leigh-Ann and Allen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, three brothers, Fred, Clifford and Donald New; one sister, Jewel Anne New and a grandson, Robert Dax New.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Thursday, August 16th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Brother Mark Brock officiating. Burial will follow in the Hilltop Cemetery in Avoca where military rites will be accorded by members of Gillen Post 33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 15th and from 11 a.m. until the hour of service on Thursday, August 16th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
