Ilene W. Houpt – Bedford
Ilene W. Houpt, 90, of Bedford, passed away at 9 a.m. no Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Garden Villa in Bedford.
Born January 26, 1922 in Peerless, she was the daughter of Carl V. and Fay (Anderson) Fry. She married Lloyd M. Houpt on September 13, 1941 and he preceded her in death on December 15, 1976. She was a librarian at the Needmore Elementary School for more than 25 years retiring in 1989. She was a very active member in the Avoca Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Nancy Merchen and husband Bob, of Savannah, GA. And Patty Byers and husband Dick, of Portland, OR; one son David Houpt, of Mitchell; identical twin sisters, Irene Ray of Bedford and niece, Cheryl Moffett, of Connersville; grandchildren, Dr. Todd Merchen and wife Dr. Lee Ann Merchen, of Augusta, GA, Bret Byers, of Bozeman, MT, Brad Byers, of Loveland, CO, Ryan and Darren Houpt, of Bloomington and “adopted” granddaughter, Roz Turner, of Bedford; great grandchildren, Peyton and Kain Houpt, Patrick and Georgia Merchen.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a granddaughter, Alison Merchen, a brother, Joe Fry and a sister, Louise Benbow.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, October 6th in the Elmwood Chapel of Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Kyle Witmer officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, October 5th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Larry Wayne Reynolds – Orleans
Larry Wayne Reynolds, 64, of Orleans, passed away at 4:41 p.m. Monday, October 1, 2012, at IU Health Bedford Hospital.
Born December 6, 1947, in Charlestown, he was the son of Herbert Clinton and Margaret Jane (Trinkle) Reynolds. He was a retired truck driver.
Survivors include, daughter, Lisa Ann Taylor, of Mitchell; grandchildren, Geneal and Whitney Taylor, and Aidan Kehar; brother, Ronnie Reynolds, of Mocksville, NC; sisters, Betty Monyhan, of Ft. Myers, Florida, Janet Little, of Orleans, Donna Cornelesse, of Northport, Florida,
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Friday, October 5, at Claysville Cemetery with Rev. Mike Williams officiating.

Paul Terrell – Bedford
Paul Terrell, 85, of Bedford, passed away at 4:10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at Garden Villa.
Born November 21, 1926 in Bedford, he was the son of Walter Paul and Anna (Mason) Terrell. He married Alice Mason on February 24, 1947 and she preceded him in death on October 5, 2009. He was a sheer metal worker for Triangle & Leahy in Bedford and a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving during WWII. He was a member of the First church of God, Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 20 and a past board member of the Salvation Army.
Survivors include a daughter, Ronda Sargent and husband, Dennis of Bedford; two sons, Alan Terrell and wife Linda, of Rochester, IN and Danny Terrell and wife Beth, of Guthrie; seven grandchildren, Joe Sargent, Jack Sargent, Julie Speer, Molly Clark, Grant Terrell, Ashlie Kimmel and Kristen Hutton; 18 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, seven brothers and sisters.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 5th at Green Hill Cemetery with Pastor Randy Corbin officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, October 4th at Day & Carter Mortuary.
The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the American Heart Association or Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services.

Eva Mae Rio – Oolitic
Eva Mae Rio, 85, of Oolitic, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at 12:57 a.m. at IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born October 2, 1927 in Bedford, she was the daughter of George and Nancy (Hall) Scofield. She married Tony Rio on December 8, 1943 and he preceded her in death on June 7, 2009.
She was a homemaker and an avid antique collector along with her husband, Tony, for many years. She loved the outdoors, especially flower gardening. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church; American Legion Auxiliary of Gillen Post 33 and NARFE.
Survivors include one son, George D. and wife Sue Rio, of Oolitic; one daughter, Joyce and husband Donald Robertson, of Mitchell; four grandchildren, Anthony Rio and wife Joanna, of Ft. Hood, TX, Aaron Rio, of Tokyo, Japan, Erika Robertson, of Bloomington and Katrina Robertson, of Mitchell; one great grandson, Owen Anthony Rio; one sister, Dorothy Gates, of Bedford; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; three brothers, Floyd Scofield, Clifford Scofield and Alva Scofield, one sister Florence Matlock.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 4, 2012 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with Father Rick Elder and Deacon Dave Reising officiating. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Ferguson-Lee Funeral home. The Rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be considered to the St. Vincent de Paul Building Fund.

Walter “Ray” Wagner – Bedford
Walter “Ray” Wagner, 92, of Bedford, passed away at 8:05 p.m. on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at Stonebridge Health Campus.
Born February 15, 1920, in Silverville, he was the son of Walter and Iva Mae (Hackler) Wagner. He married Norma E. Quakenbush on June 21, 1940 and she survives. He was a graduate of Fayetteville High School and the owner of the Shell Service Station on Lincoln Avenue for 40 years, retiring in 1981. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII and a member of the Silverville Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Norma, of Bedord; two sons, Michael Wagner and wife Patty, of Bedford, Timothy Wagner and wife Lisa, of Bloomington; a brother, Gilbert “Gib” Wagner, of Ellettsville; four grandchildren, Luanna Smith and husband Steve, Anne Stauffacher and husband Brent, Nicholas Ackerman and Zachary Wagner; three great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Wanda May Wagner and Helen Smith, a brother Robert “Bob” Wagner and a daughter, Lana Bourland.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, October 4th in the Silverville Missionary Baptist Cemetery with John Lee officiating. Burial will follow. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 3rd and from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Thursday October 4th at Day & Carter Mortuary.
