Barbara Ann Carter-Cliffton – Mitchell
Barbara Ann Carter-Clifton, 80, of Mitchell, surrounded by her family, went home to be with her Lord at 4:41 a.m. Sunday, November 4, 2012, at her residence.
Born January 26, 1932, in Lawrence County, she was the daughter of Marty C. and Bessie P. (Tincher) Dixon. She married Howard W. Carter November 3, 1956, and he preceded her in death September 17, 1984.
She retired from Bedford Regional Medical Center, was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Bedford, and attended the Bride of Christ Fellowship.
Survivors include children, Debbie J. and husband Andy Pemberton, of Mitchell, Duane H. Carter and wife Kathy Bell, of Bedford, Donna J. Brown, Bedford, step daughter, Maxine Ashley and husband Jerry, of Orleans; twin sister, Joan Batchelor, of Rochester;
grandchildren, Cheryl and husband Rob Winks, Chris Austin, Kevin Austin, Lori and husband Brian Chilton, Angie and husband John Turpin, Kyla Pemberton, Jeremy Carter and wife Emily, Brooke Carter, Brandi and husband Jack Lee, Alesha and husband Chris Morrow, Bill Jones and wife Jennifer, Tiffany Jones; 19 great grandchildren; 9 great great grandchildren
She was preceded in death by her parents; stepfather, G. Leo Carter; husband; and daughter, Dianna J. Neeley.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday, November 9, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center with Rev. Steve Jones officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from 11 a.m. until the service on Friday at the funeral home.

Thomas D. Denniston – Mitchell
Thomas D. Denniston, 60, of Mitchell, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Bedford Regional Medical Center. He was born October 20, 1952 in Bedford to Gerald and Barbara (Browning) Denniston.
Survivors include several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home in Heltonville with Brother Chris Meadows officiating. Burial will follow at Meadows Cemetery.
Gladys Leach – Holland, Texas
Gladys Leach, 81, of Holland, TX, formerly of Bedford, died October 31, 2012. Arrangements are pending at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
Bill R. Kern – Beford
Bill R. Kern, 87, of Bedford, died at 7:25 p.m. on Monday, November 5, 2012, at Westview Manor.
Born July 31, 1925 in Bedford, Indiana, he was the son of Rev. Richard Kern and Ruby (Horan) Kern. He married M. Jeanette Brown on August 22, 1952; and she survives. He was a graduate of Shawswick High School, Class of 1943. He was a retired electrician, and a member of the I.B.E.W. Local #16, Evansville. He was a member of the Englewood Baptist Church in Bedford, where he was a song leader for many years. He was also a member of the Glory Road Quartet, which traveled the country singing and spreading God’s Glory.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Kern of Bedford; one daughter, Kathy Jean King of Indianapolis; one son, Michael Dean (Michelle) Kern of Bedford; four grandchildren, Joshua (Jessica) Johnson, Daniel Johnson, Justin Kern and Shelby Kern; two brothers, Luther (Helen) Kern and Richard “Dick” (Janet) Kern, and one sister, Roberta Davis, all of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Doris Craig.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 9, 2012, at 10 a.m. at the Englewood Baptist Church, with Pastor David Ferry officiating. Burial will be in Cresthaven Memory Gardens.
Friends may call on Thursday, 4 to 8 p.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.
