Rachel Lynn Moffitt – Shoals
Rachel Lynn Moffitt, 31, of Shoals, passed away on Monday, in Owen County. She was a homemaker and a graduate of Shoals High School Class of 1999.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at 1 p.m. at Queen-Lee Funeral Home in Shoals. Burial will follow in Mount Olive Cemetery.
Roy L. Hendrick – Mitchell
Roy L. Hedrick, 74, passed away Tuesday, January 1, 2013, at Waterman Hospital in Tavares, Florida.
Born March 4, 1938, in Daviess County, he was the son of Lolan and Helen (Frazo) Hedrick. He was married to Billie Myers.
He served in the United States Air Force during the Korean War. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge No. 14 F. & A.M., Murat Shrine of Indianapolis, American Legion Gillen Post No. 33, and Elks Lodge No. 826.
Roy was known by many for his years of service at Stone City Construction Company, North Lawrence Water Corporation, and Pritchett Brothers Construction. He was one of the integral parts in the restoration of the West Baden Springs Hotel and French Lick’s Resort Casino.
He was a man of strong integrity and a man of few words who spoke through his actions. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, a pillar of strength for his entire family. He lived by the motto, “Anything worth doing is worth doing right.” And those who knew him will carry this value with them in their hearts.
Survivors include wife, Billie Hedrick, of Mitchell; children, Scott Hedrick, of Mitchell, Madonna Parish, of Lafayette, Sherry Wade and husband, Randall, of East Lansing, Michigan; grandchildren, Brooke Giorgio and husband, Rob, of Lafayette, Zachary “Nate” Wade and fiancée , Sara, of East Lansing, Michigan; great grandchildren, Olivia Foxworthy; Nicholas, Antonia, and Jacob Giorgio, of Lafayette; brothers, James Hedrick, of Bedford; Lolan Hedrick, Copperas Cove, of Texas; many nieces, nephews, cousins, and additional extended family
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Edith Traylor, Cora Harris, Ruth Terrell, June Baugh and infant; and brothers, Robert Hedrick and Donald “Ed” Hedrick, preceded him in death.
Memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 12, in the Memorial Chapel of Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center. A Masonic Memorial Service will be conducted by Masonic Lodge No. 14 F&AM. Friends may call from 11 a.m. until the service at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorial donations be made to the Lawrence County Cancer Patient Services or St. Vincent dePaul Society.
