Debra Fields Jenkins – Bedford
Debra Fields Jenkins, 56, of Bedford, passed away at 8:47 am on Wednesday, March 13th at St. Vincent Dunn Hospital.
Arrangements are pending at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
Herschel Hale Kern – Mitchell
Herschel Hale Kern, 81, of Mitchell, passed away at 10:05 p.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Core Nursing and Rehab in Bedford.
Born September 15, 1931, in Lawrence County, he was the son of Hovie Jackson and Lula Mae (Baker) Kern. He married Sherri Gayle Edwards March 2, 2000. He retired from GM Powertrain and was a graduate of Fayetteville High School. Herschel was a U. S. Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Sherri Kern, of Mitchell; son, Mark Kern, of Indianapolis; daughters, Kelly Thompson, of Tunnelton, Lori Kern, of Paoli, stepdaughter, Keely Stutz, of Mitchell; siblings, Frank W. Kern, Merle Kern, Mary Alice Stevens; 10 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, William Von Kern, Pauline Brown, Mabel Kern, Olive Wilcoxen, Lowell Thomas Kern, Glen Kern, and Wendell Kern.
Graveside service will be at 2 pm Friday, March 15, at Old Union Cemetery with military honors accorded by American Legion Post No. 250 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9107.
Friends may call from 11 am to 1pm Friday at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.

Barbara Jean Hearth
Barbara Jean Hearth, 82, of Bedford, passed away at 3:35 a.m. Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospice House.
Born May 27, 1930, she was the daughter of Oscar Ooley and Beatrice (Jeffers) Ooley Goodman.
She married Chester Hearth on October 10, 1950, and he survives. She was a graduate of Needmore High School with the class of 1948, a member of Free Methodist Church, Bedford and had worked 16 years as an associate at J.C. Penney, Bedford, retiring in 1986.
Surviving are her husband, Chester Hearth, Bedford; two daughters, Marcia and husband Jerry Barnes, Globe, AZ and Anna Jane Hearth, Asheboro, NC; two special friends who were just like daughters, Elizabeth “Libby” Wright and Clarice Rising, both of Asheboro, NC; three grandsons, Jeremy Barnes and wife Jessica Barnes, Scottsdale, AZ, Matthew Barnes, Seattle, WA and Kevin Henderson, Asheboro, NC; two great grandsons, Jordan Barnes and Bradley Henderson; one sister, Janet Sue Skinner, New Whiteland, IN; one step-sister, Billie Chesters, Sterling Heights, MI and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two step-fathers, Roscoe McKinney and George Goodman; one son, Brad Hearth; one step-brother, Richard Goodman; two step-sisters, Joyce Sabino and Loyce Nelson; one sister, Rosalie McKinney, in infancy and one brother, Michael Goodman, in infancy.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, Bedford, with Pastor John Lane officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Run Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 4 pm to 6 p.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be considered to the Free Methodist Church, Bedford.

Clara Mae Hall – Bedford
Clara Mae Hall, 80, of Bedford, passed away at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at Stonebridge Health Campus.
Born June 30, 1932 in Bedford, she was the daughter of Winferd and Alice (Combs) Deckard. She married David Hall on October 13, 1956, and he survives. She was a graduate of Needmore High School with the Class of 1950; and she attended Indiana State Teachers College. She worked at Group One for several years.
Surviving are her husband, David Hall, of Bedford; daughter, Sarah Hall, of Bedford; four sisters, Maxine and husband Frank Adams, June and husband Everett Patrick, Linda and husband Robert Meadows, and Trudy and husband Joe Armstrong.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and one aunt, Anna Lee Combs.
Funeral service will be on Friday, March 15, 2013, at 11 a.m. at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home, with Tevin Meadows officiating. Burial will be in Hanson Cemetery. Friends may call on Thursday, 4 pm to 8 pm at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the White River Humane Society in memory of Clara Mae Hall.
