Margie Pennington – Indianapolis
Margie Pennington, 92, passed away at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 14, 2013, at her residence.
Born December 18, 1920, in Mitchell, she was the daughter of Samuel and Pearl (Tolliver) Pennington.
She graduated from Mitchell High School in 1939, and spent all of her adult life in Indianapolis.
Survivors include, nieces, Sondra Piper, Sherry Rowden, Polly Nelson; nephew, Lyle Reuter; devoted caregivers; close friend and caregiver, Donald Craig
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Gladys Williams, Geneva Reuter, Eula Pennington; and brothers, Claude Pennington and Force “Penrod” Pennington.
Burial will be in Mitchell Cemetery under the direction of Chastain Funeral Home & cremation Center. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the Pennington home, 4473 North Pennsylvania Avenue, Indianapolis, on March 23, from 2 to 4 p.m.

Carl E. Byers – Bedford
Carl E. Byers, 95, of Bedford, formerly of Bloomfield, passed away at 12:40 am on Friday, March 15, 2013 at his residence.
Born January 3, 1918 in Bedford, he was the son of Ernest and Mary (Lane) Byers. He married Florence Evans in 1941 and she survives. He retired from NWSC Crane as an Electric Shop Supervisor. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WW II. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Bloomfield and enjoyed gardening, fishing, the outdoors, ballroom dancing, trap and skeet shooting.
Survivors include his wife, Florence, of Bedford; three daughters, Sally Dyke and husband, Dan, of Bedford, Becky Schick and husband, William, of Bloomington and Beth Ann Maass of Columbus; a son-in-law, Mark Mullins of Bloomfield; seven grandchildren, Jennifer (Schick) Abrams, Carla Schick, John Schick, Rachel (Maass) O’Haver, Stephen Maass, Jessica (Dyke) Mackey and Jason Dyke; six great grandchildren; one sister,
Virginia Jenkins of Bedford.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Deborah Byers; three sisters, Frances Lewis, Catherine Taylor and Sharon McDermed; three brothers Richard, Chester and Jesse (in infancy); a half-brother, Dwight Beyers and a half-sister, Helen DeFord.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm on Monday, March 18th at the First Baptist Church in Bedford with Rev. Dr. Kregg Burris and Rev. Nathan Brooks officiating. Burial will follow in Cresthaven Memory Gardens with military rites accorded at the graveside by members of Gillen Post #33 American Legion. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Sunday, March 17th at the Day & Carter Mortuary and from noon until the hour of service on Monday, March 18th at the First Baptist Church.
The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to the Salvation Army.
