Phyllis Kirk – Mitchell
Phyllis Kirk, 81, of Mitchell, died at 1:45 pm on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at the home of her son.
Born July 14, 1931, in Lawrence Co., she was the daughter of Ed and Laura May (Sasser) Cobb. She married Paul E. Kirk on April 29, 1950 and he preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and devoted mother. She was a member of the First Baptist Church and graduate of Needmore High School.
Survivors include two sons, Dan Kirk. of Mitchell and James D. Kirk and wife, Jan Holmes Kirk of Avoca; two daughters, Judy Swarts and husband, Jim, Janet Kirk Deckard and husband, William all of Bedford; eleven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; a sister, Helen Thompson of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter-in-law, Dona Kirk; six brothers, Ernest, Everett, Emery, Ray, Earl and Doyle Cobb; two sisters, Nanny Brinegar and Myrtle Matuszewski.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am on Friday, March 29th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Rev. Dr. Kregg Burris officiating. Burial will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, March 28th and from 9 am until the hour of service on Friday, March 29th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
