James Wayne VanMeter – Mitchell
James Wayne VanMeter, 60, passed away at 10:10 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013, IU Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born February 18, 1953 in Mitchell, he was the son of James and Louise “Toots” (Bertram) VanMeter. He was a truck driver for Mitchell Transport and Hancock Trucking. James was also a construction worker. He was a member of Sons of the American Legion Post No. 250, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 9107, and the Bedford Boat & Sportsman Club.
Survivors include siblings, Roger (Judy) VanMeter, Richardson, Texas,Jane Roof, Louisville, Kentucky, Gayle (Douglas) Strange, Loogootee, Rita Smith, Mitchell.
James was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 22 at Mitchell Cemetery with Bro. Jerry Allen officiating. There will be no visitation at Chastain Funeral Home & Cremation Center.
