Doris Belle Alexander – Bedford
Doris Belle Alexander, 92, of Bedford, died at 11:44 am on Friday, June 14, 2013 at I.U. Health Bedford Hospital.
Born February 3, 1921 in Bedford, she was the daughter of Charles and Golda (Vaught) Ikerd. She married Everett Alexander on March 6, 1940 and he preceded her in death on May 16, 1992. She was a homemaker and member of the First Church of God.
Survivors include a daughter, Suzanne Ellis of Bedford; three grandchildren, John Alexander and wife, Elaine of Martinsville, Carol Sanders and husband, Lee of Mitchell, Sarah Hassler and husband, Jason of Bedford; six great grandchildren, Elise Alexander, David Alexander, Natalie and Carissa Alexander, Carlee Sanders and Jessica Sanders; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, Gary Lee Alexander; two brothers, Charles and Finley Ikerd.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am on Tuesday, June 18 in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Mark Duncan and Reno Bates officiating. Burial will follow in the Knott Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 pm to 8 pm on Monday, June 17 at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
