Mary Jane Doane – Mitchell
Mary Jane Doane, 81, of Mitchell, died at 6 am on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at I.U. Health Hospice House.
Born June 7, 1932 in Martin Co., she was the daughter of Fielding and Minnie (Rowe) Sterling. She married Noble Doane on August 25, 1951 and he preceded her in death on December 22, 2007. She had worked at Pfeffer’s Bakery until 1966. She later made cakes from home and was a homemaker. She served as the secretary-treasurer for the Huron PTO for several years and was a member of the Fairview Church of Christ.
Survivors include two sons, Scott Doane of Williams and Darrell Doane and wife, Nora of Mitchell; two grandchildren, Allen and Kortni Doane both of Mitchell; two brothers, Donald Sterling and wife, Sue of Loogootee and Francis Sterling and wife, Ginny of Velpen, IN; two sisters, Ernestine Earl of Mitchell and Barbara Frey of Galloway, OH; a brother-in-law, Jonnie Doane and wife, Peggy; a sister-in-law, Juanita Taylor Henderson and husband, Gordon all of Bedford; several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers-in-law, James Earl, Ed Frey, Austin Taylor and Russell Bates; a sister-in-law, Jeanette Bates.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm on Friday, December 13th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Richard Holt officiating. Burial will follow in the Port Williams Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, December 12th and from Noon until the hour of service on Friday, December 13th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.
The family asks that friends consider memorial contributions be made to I.U. Health Hospice.

Larry D. Eagans – Springville
Larry D. Eagans 62, of Springville, died at 6:25 am on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at I.U. Health Bloomington Hospital.
Born August 15, 1951 in Lawrence Co., he was the son of Claude and Rosalie Eagans and Leola (Roll) Pierce. He married Linda Eggers on August 18, 1972 and she survives. He was employed at GE in machine setup and plastics.
Survivors include his wife, Linda, of Springville; two daughters, Stormie Eagans of Bloomfield and Amy Eagans of Springville; ten grandchildren, Nick McKamey, Marissa Warner and husband, Dennis, Natasha Magers and husband, Chris, Drew McKamey, Audrey McKamey, Colten Johnson, Grayson McKamey, Noah, Eli and Grace Cumming; one great grandson, Clark Warner; three brothers, Marty Eagans of East Oolitic, Brad Taylor and Kevin Taylor both of Bloomington; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his step-mother, Rosalie Eagans; a sister, Sharon Roll and a brother, Mike Eagans.
Funeral services will be conducted at 10 am on Friday, December 13th in the Elmwood Chapel of the Day & Carter Mortuary with Pastor Doug Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in the Springville Christian Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 pm to 8 pm on Thursday, December 12th at the Day & Carter Mortuary.

Curtis Eugene Chastain – Bedford
Curtis E. Chastain, 83, of Bedford passed away on Monday, December 9, 2013.
Born August 9, 1930, he was the son of Howard and Alma (Yaney) Chastain.
Out of high school he enlisted in the United States Army in 1948. He was stationed at Ft. Sill, OK. He started his career at General Motors in Bedford, where he retired in 1979. He was a member of UAW Local 440. He attended Davis Memorial Church of the Nazarene.
Curtis and his beloved wife Gladys (Browning) Chastain of 58 years enjoyed traveling and spending the winter in Florida. Curtis took great pride in his family.
He is survived by his wife; one sister Almeta Walker; two sons, Steven M. Chastain, and Jeffrey C. Chastain and wife Taryn; two daughters, Debra L. Chestnut, and Amy D. Sowders and husband William; grandchildren, Amber N. (Chestnut) Brock and husband J.D., Ashley B. (Chestnut) Cunningham and husband John, David A. Chastain and wife Amber, Dustin R. Brown, Matthew A. Chastain and wife Angela, Amanda J. (Chestnut) Lawson and husband Calvin, Jason A. Chastain and wife Melanie; two step-grandchildren, Jake W. Sowders, and Molly E. (Sowders) Lagenour and husband Coty; great grandchildren, Sydnie, Suttun, and Sullivan Cunningham, Jaylyn and Bransen Brock, Lucas and Peyton Chastain, Calvin J. Lawson, Lillie Chastain, Logan and Garrett Blake, and Emily Chastain; and several nieces and nephews.
Curtis was preceded in death by his parents; and Two brothers Richard and Jack Chastain.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 12, 2013, at Ferguson-Lee Funeral Home with Ken Bushey officiating. Curtis will be laid to rest at Fairview Cemetery. Friends are invited to visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 11, 2013 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
